Marisol of Mexico — The Girl Who Learned Her Worth
Marisol of Mexico — The Girl Who Learned Her Worth
Age: 16 Region: North America
Marisol had a terrible habit.
She compared herself to everyone.
She compared her hair to girls with straighter hair and girls with curlier hair. She compared her clothes, her skin, her smile, her bedroom, and once—during a particularly ridiculous afternoon—even her eyebrows.
Her phone made it easy.
There was always someone prettier.
Someone more popular.
Someone whose life appeared to involve perfect sunsets, expensive shoes, and absolutely no algebra homework.
Marisol knew photographs could be edited. She knew people didn't post pictures of themselves crying in the bathroom or fighting with their mothers or getting a giant pimple the morning of school pictures.
She knew all of that.
It didn't always help.
So Marisol became very good at finding things wrong with herself...
Her Dream: To create beautiful things that help girls express who they really are.
Her Wonder: Why do we see beauty so easily in others, but have to learn to see it in ourselves?
