Adults sometimes look at Zoe's prosthetic hand and then immediately look away because they don't want Zoe to notice that they noticed.
Zoe always notices.
Children are much easier.
“What happened to your hand?”
“Can you move the fingers?”
“Does it hurt?”
“Can you pick things up?”
“ARE YOU PART ROBOT?”
That last question is Zoe's favorite.
Her usual answer is:
“Obviously.”
Her Dream: To design prosthetics that help children do the things they love without asking them to hide what makes them different.
Her Wonder: What could we build if we stopped asking people to fit the world and started building a world that fits them?
