Nika stops.

Her shoulders begin shaking.

“Nika.”

“I know. Wait.”

She takes a breath.

“Okay. We were walking down the hall and Leila—”

Gone.

Completely gone.

Nika folds over laughing.

Her mother waits.

She has experience with this.

“Would you like to finish the story sometime before dinner?”

Nika holds up one finger.

She cannot currently speak...
