Marisol of Columbia — The Girl Who Shares the Last Scoop
Marisol of Columbia — The Girl Who Shares the Last Scoop
Age: 14
Country: Columbia
Marisol has never understood why anyone would keep the biggest scoop for themselves.
It simply doesn't make sense.
If something wonderful can be shared...
why wouldn't you?
Her parents say she's been this way since she was very small.
If she received two cookies...
one disappeared into someone else's hand.
If she found a beautiful shell...
she immediately started looking for another one so a friend could have one too.
If she laughed...
she expected everyone nearby to join in.
Usually they did.
Her laughter is wonderfully contagious.
Teachers have occasionally had to stop smiling long enough to remind the class they were supposed to be working.
They rarely sound convincing.
Marisol believes celebrations don't have to wait for birthdays.
A spelling test.
The first flower blooming.
A puppy learning a new trick.
Rain stopping at exactly the right moment.
All perfectly reasonable reasons for ice cream.
She loves helping her grandmother bake.
Not because she enjoys measuring flour.
Well...
she does enjoy that.
But mostly because she loves watching neighbors smile when fresh pastries arrive unexpectedly at their doors.
Her grandmother calls them "just because" treats.
Marisol thinks every neighborhood should have more of those.
Someday she'd like to own a little café where everyone feels welcome.
There would be books on the shelves.
Fresh bread every morning.
A table where children could draw while they waited.
And anyone eating alone would soon discover they weren't alone anymore.
Because someone—probably Marisol—would wander over to ask if she'd like company.
Her Dream
To own a neighborhood café where kindness is served alongside every meal.
Her Wonder
"Do desserts taste sweeter when someone else smiles first?"
