Amina of the Central African Republic — The Girl Who Climbs Every Tree

Amina of the Central African Republic —  The Girl Who Climbs Every Tree

Age: 6     Region: African Continent

No one remembers exactly when Amina first climbed a tree.

Only that one day she couldn't...

And the next day she could.

Now she's always looking up.

She knows which branches are strong enough to hold her.

Which ones bend a little.

Which trees have the best views.

And which ones are perfect for pretending she's queen of an enormous forest kingdom.

Sometimes grown-ups call her name three times before they remember to look into the branches.

There she is.

Smiling.

Swinging one foot.

Watching birds build nests.

She says the world looks friendlier from up high...

Her Dream: To protect forests and the animals who live there.

Her Wonder: "Do trees remember everyone who climbs them?"
